Blackmagic Camera LUT not working: fixes by symptom

Blackmagic Camera not saving / not exporting with LUT
The LUT shows on screen but the recorded clip is plain Log. By default the LUT is display only. In the LUT settings, enable the option to apply the LUT to the recording (wording varies by version), then record a short test clip. If you prefer flexibility, keep recording clean and apply the same .cube in your editor instead.
How to save video from Blackmagic Camera with LUT
- Import the .cube (import guide).
- Select it and enable display.
- Enable applying the LUT to the recorded clip.
- Record, then check the clip in Photos — it should look graded, not grey.
Record LUT to clip not working
Check the codec: some combinations (e.g. certain resolutions/frame rates or non-Log modes) may not bake LUTs. Update the app, restart it, and test with 4K/30 Apple Log in ProRes or H.265.
LUT import fails or the file is greyed out
Use a 3D .cube (33 or 65 point), unzipped, saved locally in Files. Rename files with simple names (no emoji or special characters).
LUT looks grey / washed out
You are using a Rec709 look on Log footage. Switch to the Apple Log version of the LUT, or put a Log→Rec709 conversion first.
LUT looks way too contrasty or saturated
The opposite: a Log LUT on footage that isn't Log (HDR/SDR). Set the codec/color space to Apple Log, or use the Rec709 version.
Apple Log 2 (iPhone 17 Pro) looks slightly off
Older Apple Log LUTs aren't built for Apple Log 2's wider gamut. Use an Apple Log 2 version.
